About Rose Development
Rose Development is a small, senior-only studio based on the island of Terschelling in the Netherlands. We have been building custom software, designing visual identities, and shooting commercial photography since 1990 — and every project is delivered by the same people who designed it, at a single transparent rate.
We are not a body shop. We take on a limited number of concurrent projects so we can commit fully to each one. You will always know exactly who is working on your project and what they have been doing.
About the StudioDeep Domain Knowledge
We have been building logistics field software and reservation & booking systems since 1990 in 4D and PHP, including mobile applications for Zebra devices used alongside the TransportMaster platform. We understand the domain, not just the technology.
Driver apps, dispatch tooling, and planning interfaces for transport operations — built in C# from scratch, designed to work in the field where connectivity is unreliable and speed matters.
Field Software →Custom pick, receive, and count applications for Zebra rugged Android devices, with DataWedge barcode scanning, offline-first operation, and glove-friendly UI.
Warehouse Apps →Custom logistics applications built from scratch in C# — new systems designed for a single client's operation, not products configured to fit. Integrations built where the project requires them.
Logistics Software →We build new 4D applications from scratch for clients in the logistics and transport sector. We know the platform inside out and build clean, well-structured systems that can be extended over time.
4D Development →Technology
Language-agnostic. We recommend what the problem actually needs, not what we happen to know best.
Our Process
Every project starts with a real conversation — not a sales call. Clear scope, honest estimates, and no surprises at invoice time.
We learn about your business, your requirements, and any existing systems or constraints — before writing a line of code or picking up a camera.
A clear written scope with a realistic estimate. Hourly or fixed price depending on what fits the work. Agreed in writing before we start.
Short, regular cycles with real progress. Asynchronous communication by default — no mandatory weekly calls, no artificial urgency.
Documentation, source code, and everything you need. We do not disappear after delivery — if a question comes up, we answer it.
What I cannot create, I do not understand
News
We have completed a major modernization of 4D Agenda, bringing a classic 4D plugin from its early-2000s roots into a clean, stable, modern macOS codebase. The original 4D Agenda codebase dates back to around 2003. It had served faithfully for many years, but it also carried the usual archaeological layers: old drawing paths, legacy platform branches, classic Mac assumptions, and enough historical compatibility code to make a museum curator nod approvingly.

And sometimes it is ten hours of staring into Visual FoxPro, legacy ActiveX controls, temporary DBF files, scrambled compiled code, hidden viewers, crashing PDF components, and one very stubborn transport management system that refuses to explain itself.
