Privacy Policy for The Book Player

The Book Player is developed and provided by Rose Development ("Rose Development," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use The Book Player on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or in its widgets and complications.
Privacy at a glance
The Book Player is designed to work without an account. We do not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or use your personal data for advertising or tracking. The app does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
Your audiobook files, library information, listening progress, bookmarks, and preferences are processed and stored on your devices.
Information processed on your device
To provide its features, The Book Player processes the following information locally:
Audio files and folders that you choose to import, including embedded titles, chapter information, and cover artwork;
Library information derived from those files, such as filenames, titles, durations, and file locations;
Playback information, including listening position, recently played book, selected track, playback speed, and skip intervals;
Bookmarks and bookmark names that you create;
App preferences, including library layout, appearance, accent color, sleep-timer choices, and auto-resume settings; and
A limited Now Playing snapshot, such as the current title, chapter, progress, playback state, and artwork, used by the app's widgets, complications, and Apple Watch companion app.
This information is used only to provide the audiobook library, playback, resume, bookmark, widget, and Apple Watch features that you request. Rose Development does not receive this information.
File access
The Book Player accesses only audio files and folders that you intentionally import or make available in the app's documents area. The app does not scan your photo library, contacts, messages, location, microphone, or unrelated files.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to use the audio files you import.
iPhone, iPad, widgets, and Apple Watch
The app and its widgets use an Apple App Group container to share the limited local information needed to display Now Playing controls and artwork. When you use the Apple Watch companion app, playback state, commands, and artwork may be transferred between your paired Apple devices using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework.
This device-to-device and app-extension processing is provided through Apple's operating-system services. It is not sent to Rose Development or to advertising or analytics providers.
Data collection and sharing
Rose Development does not collect data from The Book Player. The app does not:
Require or offer a user account;
Send your audiobook files or listening activity to Rose Development;
Use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services;
Build user profiles; or
Sell or share personal data with third parties.
Apple may independently process information when you download the app, use App Store services, use iCloud or device backup, or use Apple platform features. Apple's handling of that information is governed by Apple's own privacy policies and your Apple device and account settings.
Storage, retention, and deletion
Audiobook files and app data remain on your device until you delete them. You can:
Delete individual audiobooks from within The Book Player or through Apple's Files app;
Use Settings > Reset Listening History in The Book Player to remove saved playheads, bookmarks, resume state, and related listening-history records while keeping your audio files; and
Delete The Book Player from your devices to remove its locally stored app data, subject to any device backups you have enabled through Apple.
Widget and Apple Watch snapshots are replaced as playback changes and are removed when the relevant app or extension data is removed. Rose Development cannot access or remotely delete this information because it is not transmitted to us.
Security
The Book Player relies on Apple's application sandbox, App Group protections, device security, and WatchConnectivity protections to keep local information separated from unrelated apps. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, so you should protect your devices with the security features offered by Apple.
Children
The Book Player does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children. The app is not designed to collect names, contact details, precise location, or other identifying information.
External website and support
If you choose to visit our website or contact us for support, the information you provide outside The Book Player is handled separately under the Rose Development website privacy policy. Please avoid sending audiobook files or other sensitive content in a support request unless it is necessary and you have the right to do so.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if the app's features, data practices, or legal requirements change. We will publish the updated policy with a new "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how the app handles personal data, we will provide any additional notice or consent required by applicable law.

Because Rose Development does not receive data from The Book Player, we generally cannot retrieve, correct, export, or delete app data for you. You can manage that data directly on your device as described above.
